Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust (BSUH) went live with ALERT® OUTPATIENT on March 1, 2016.
ALERT® OUTPATIENT is now fully available for Radiology and E-prescribing in Digestive Diseases with version 22.214.171.124.2 of the ALERT® product. In total this Go Live comprised two institutions and 14 Digestive Diseases specialties.
BSUH is an NHS acute teaching hospital in the United Kingdom with around 1 000 beds, which works across four facilities and two main sites: the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. The Brighton campus includes the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and the Sussex Eye Hospital.
Furthermore, BSUH provides District General Hospital services to the local populations in and around the City of Brighton and Hove, Mid Sussex, the Western part of East Sussex and more specialized/tertiary services for patients across Sussex and the South East of England.
With around 7 000 members of staff, BSUH treats over three quarters of a million patients each year.
Since 2012, BSUH has been adopting ALERT’s suite of products, and by December 2015 had already implemented the following modules:
- ALERT® EDIS in the Emergency Department of Princess Royal Hospital and Sussex Eye Hospital
- ALERT® OUTPATIENT in 12 clinics across the Royal Sussex County Hospital and the Princess Royal Hospital
- ALERT® DATA WAREHOUSE
As of the first Go Live, ALERT® already has 1 400 BSUH users, over 94 000 patients registered in the system and over 50 000 episodes/year, which include:
- 46 000 Emergency Episodes/Year
- 4 500 Ambulatory Episodes/Year
The next phases of the project, foreseen for 2016, comprise the hospital-wide areas of Pathology Results Reporting and Radiology Ordering and Results in the Inpatient Department, as well as the implementation of Rehabilitation modules.
